Off-White

Going from strength to strength, Virgil Abloh’s collections are always bold and beautiful, this one was no different. Drawing inspiration from 70’s and 80’s through oversized jackets and knitwear this show took us back in time but also right into the future with a mixture of clean cut and fresh styles, paired with old school sweaters. This Off-White collection paid homage to the ever growing phenomenon of street style that are constantly being paired with tailoring, for a cool but casual look.

Balmain

Known for its clean but adventurous and elegant tailoring, this feature did not fail to disappoint. Classic style smoking jackets made from expensive materials added a huge element of class to this show, taking you back to the 1920’s on the streets of Paris. Contrasted against deconstructed garments adding the popular street style element, propelling the collection into the present.

Vetements

Vetements’ ‘anti-social’ collection was weird but wonderful. Models appeared as school children with stuffed animal backpacks and a variety of clashing layers, looking like the those on the 90’s grunge scene. Surrounded by stuffed animals, the mise-en-scene for this show looked like something out of a strange horror film, set in a children's play room, whilst the models looked like they were ready for a riot. The clothes definitely replicated this, with bold statements warning the audience that what they were about to witness would be disturbing, aimed at exposing the “dark side of humanity”. A very interesting show indeed.

Issey Miyake

Miyake never fails to disappoint with his decades worth of experience and inspiration. Bold prints, contrasted against monochrome bases made up fun, oversized, boxy suits. Print and colour was definitely the basis for this collection, and was paired perfectly with simple layers to really showcase the main elements of design. Simple yet effective.
